Hello!
Ever since I started my psychology degree, nearly 30 years ago, I’ve been fascinated to understand how we learn who we are.
I did my degree on postnatal depression and the mother-infant relationship, and at the same time I was doing a 6 year training in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy.
And in both of those, I was immersed in learning about mirroring, and the development of self in babies.
I’m sure you know this already; babies learn who they are by the way they are responded to.
The way we listen to their needs becomes the way they respond to their needs and what they believe about their needs.
The way we respond to their feelings becomes the way they respond to their feelings and what they believe about their feelings.
The lens through which we see them deeply affects the lens through which they see themselves.
The words we say to them become their own inner dialogue.
The thing is, the way we respond to their feelings is affected by how we respond to our feelings, which is affected by how our feelings were responded to as babies and children, and now much we’ve done since then to reclaim our own connection with ourselves since then.
In all those avenues, we can be more or less accurate in how we reflect them to themselves.
The more inner work we’ve done to connect with who we really are, the less opaque is the veil of our conditioning, and the more clearly we can see our babies and children, and thus, the more clearly they see themselves.
Why is this important?
Well, the bigger the gap between who we really are and who we believe ourselves to be, the more uncomfortable we are likely to be in life.
The bigger the discordance between our true self and our learnt self, the more suffering there is likely to be.
For many of us, a lot of our life can be about reconnecting with who we really are, and slowly peeling back those veils of who we learnt ourselves to be.
For example, perhaps you have voices inside you that tell you that you aren’t very good at something that you love, it’s likely that you learnt those voices, “You’re not very good at that,” from outside you, when you were a child – not only from family, but from teachers, children at school, and so on.
But what if you really want to do that thing that you love? Believing that you aren’t good at it, or any of the other harsh inner voices, is going to be painful.
In myself and my friends, I see this increasing finding of who we are.
For example, one of my dearest friends is really competent at lots of things. She’s very intelligent, funny, quick to learn, incredibly competent at what she does, inspiring, and the most wonderful friend.
And over the years, I’ve seen her gradually gradually realising those things about herself.
She is increasingly letting those internalised voices go, and is seeing who she really is and what she is capable of.
And seeing that process in her helps me see it in me too.
I used to be filled with self-judgment, self-doubt, and other very unfriendly inner voices.
The older I get, and the more self-listening I do, the more I am realising who I am and what I can do.
And as the veil of conditioning falls away, bit by bit, life is becoming more and more enjoyable and beautiful.
As my Inner Loving Mother listens to my body, my Inner Loving Father helps me go out into the world, my Inner Best Friend thinks I’m wonderful and my Inner Beloved holds my hand when I’m walking alone, the more naturally joyful life is becoming.
I am seeing myself, and the world, more clearly.
And this whole journey, of seeing ourselves clearly, is my passion.
I’m passionate about us, particularly as mothers, seeing ourselves more clearly so that we can see our children more clearly, so that their sense of self is more accurate, so that they can more easily life their own true life, the life that is about them being who they are and doing what they came here to do.
And that is the thread that runs through ALL of my courses and all of the work I do.
I am LOVING my Inner Loving Presence Process Course. I’m just so grateful every day that I get to do what I get to do!
The free taster is still available, if you are interested (click on the image below to get it!)And today, I invite you to see yourself more clearly.
What veil are you willing to lift, so that you can see the beautiful, wonderful human being that you are?
I am redesigning my Marion Rose website, and it’s all about this process.
I LOVE design! I’ve loved it since I was a child!
And my website is going to be a truer reflection of me and what I stand for and what I offer!
I am planning on having it ready by my birthday, in a few weeks. I’m also going to have a big birthday sale, so keep an eye out for that!
Here is the feel of it!
Love,
Marion
