Why Psychospiritual Parenting is Important For Our Planet

I care deeply about Psychospiritual Parenting – for my children, for myself, and for the families who resonate with it.

Why?

Because I believe that life for our children is going to require compassion, resilience, and the capacity to take action deeply based on their values.

We know from the work of people like Lloyd deMause and Robin Grille that culture and parenting go hand in hand.

Our planet requires us to evolve as humans:

AWAY from identifying with race and country and culture TO understanding the humanity and planet we all share;

AWAY from judgment, guilt, shame, comparison, competition and harshness TO deep compassion for ourselves, each other, and all of Life;

AWAY from a sense of disconnection from ourselves, from Spirit, and from the natural world that creates the endless desire for more stuff, TO a deep sense of inner connection, fulfilment and wholeness;

AWAY from power-over paradigms of coercion, punishment, force and guilt, TO a deep sense of willingness that comes from deeply honouring values and needs;

AWAY from a culture of repression and dissociation TO a culture that embraces and holds feelings of grief and loss;

AWAY from a disempowering of individuals TO a honouring of the innate power we all share, that we can use in service of Life; to take real action and make real changes in the way society is structured;

AWAY from disconnection and alienation TO a deep sense of belonging, meaning and purpose.

Old-fashioned forms of parenting carried on and recreated old fashioned societies.

I’m passionate about helping children be profoundly resourced for changes in the coming years, so that they:

Are deeply and compassionately connected with themselves, others, and all of nature and life;

Feel a sense of belonging, of inner wholeness, and a desire to make a difference;

Are deeply comfortable with the full range of their feelings and the feelings of others;

Are profoundly connected with their true loving nature and their compassion for others;

Are free to take bold and brave action to create change in the world;

Are grounded in their values, sense of meaning and purpose;

Know who they really are and feel a deep sense of being at home in their true self.

Psychospiritual Parenting is not only about our child; it’s about our relationship with our child and our relationship with ourselves.

It’s about a relationship of power-with rather than power-over and coercion.

It’s about a relationship of loving compassion and connection.

It’s about a relationship between two souls.

It’s an opportunity for us to reparent ourselves where:

our will got silted up by punishment and coercion;

our love got covered over by disconnection, hurt and a lack of empathy;

our souls got hidden under needing to behave in certain ways to be loved.

Psychospiritual Parenting is about all of these things and more.

I’m so deeply passionate about this work.
