Mothering as a Transformational Journey

I believe that Mothering is designed to be a transformational journey.

And yet, it isn’t often see this way, particularly in a culture that:

Values the maiden above all other stages of womanhood;
Doesn’t value the mother;
Denigrates the Maga and the Crone.

And yet our time in the key mothering phase starts when we make that transition from Maiden to Mother,

and comes to an end as we make that transition from Mother to Maga.

Now that both of my children are in their teens; my daughter close to her 18th birthday, my son having just become a teen and me, born 51 years ago, beginning that transition to Maga, I look back and see the profound transformation that being a Mother has helped me with.

I have:

Brought up my children in a very different paradigm from the one I was brought up in;
Learnt to deeply trust my intuition (elimination communication helped me see the intuition going on all the time!);
Transformed my internal relationships and inner dialogue;
Got free from guilt and other harsh cultural sticks;
Developed the capacity for unconditional love;
Changed my attachment status through how I’ve responded to my children;
Discovered my purpose;
Experienced listening to my children’s feelings;
Learnt to understand exactly how the psyche of a child develops;
Offered my children loving support and phrases that I then could give to myself;
Freed myself from perfectionism and discovered how to love myself unconditionally;
Learnt deep humility;
Developed a deep sense of being part of my lineage going backwards and forwards;
Experienced so many of my unexpressed childhood feelings and learnt how to be with my inner children with unconditional love;
Healed so many childhood hurts;
Transformed my relationship with my parents;
Learnt how to be present with all of my feelings;
Learnt how to value my needs and values and callings;
Felt a deep sense of belonging with a community of sister-mothers;
and so much more.

I’m here to support the deep valuing of mothers and mothering; to honour this journey as one that invites us on a profound journey of transformation, like the Hero’s Journey that Joseph Campbell talks about.

This is The Mothering Journey.

And it’s not just The Mother’s Journey, because it’s a collective thing.

It’s the transformation that impacts our children and our partners and our world.

I love supporting mothers in the process of mothering transformation, and I’m so looking forward to the upcoming Transformation Through Mothering offering.
