Hello!
How are you?
Last week, my 13-year-old daughter and I traveled a couple of hours to go to a One Direction concert. (If you haven’t heard of 1D, the are a group of 5 British boys who are loved by teenage girls all over the world!)
It was their stadium tour, which meant that there were about 50,000 teenage girls there!
My daughter and I had such a wonderful time together. We sang, danced, and felt delighted about how close we were to the stage. There were fireworks and pyrotechnics! It was exhilarating!
If your children are younger, I want to remind you how quickly those early years go. I remember at the time thinking that I would always be a mother of young children – there’s something about that time that seems timeless! But it really does fly by!
A couple of times during the concert I had a flashback to when she was a newborn baby. Those tiny little feet; holding her tiny little body in my arms. And now she isn’t far off being as tall as me!
I feel tearful writing this!
So, when things get tough or the pile of washing seems endless, remember that this time really will pass.
One other thing that struck me was how wonderful it was to be together with so many teenage girls. There was such joy in their singing along with all the songs. There was such a joy in life, such a celebration of life. And it seemed apt that I’m running my Love Being a Mother Course; the first week of which we looked back at the history of treatment of women.
In those teenage girls I saw all the power and potentiality of the feminine.
Do you remember being a teenager? Do you remember what music you liked?
So, there’s my second suggestion. How about, this week, listening to some music that you loved when you were a teenager. Let yourself reconnect with that life energy again!
As always, I’d love to hear whether you resonate – either with the making-the-most-of-every-moment part, or the beautiful energy of teenage girls part!
Much love to you,
Marion xxx
